This work was commissioned by the National Autonomous University of Mexico following Arzola’s participation in a symposium on cognitive biases in Mexico City during 2018. Reflecting on how prejudice and cognitive biases impact people’s perceptions, the artist employs the metaphor of imprisonment. The figure discovers a path to freedom by finding a key that frees his mind from the mental cage that imprisoned them.
Daniel Arzola is known for his bold and colorful illustrations, which represent a combination of his art and activism.
