For Cordero, painting interiors such as this one is a meditative practice and a part of his ongoing exploration of the familiar. He turns inward, away from the chaos and unpredictable nature of contemporary life, creating an imaginary space filled with personal symbols. The aquarium and the blue armchair are recurring motifs – objects of special significance for the artist that represent a sense of balance and calm.
