Separate. 2022

Mendel’s art closely relates to Los Angeles – its urban landscape, community, and way of life. Influenced by the vastness of the urban environment, the painting depicts the separation between nature and the artificial concrete jungle. Mendel examines how this environment impacts our psyche, what should be the response to this separation, and what this structure says about our values and dispositions. The artist has a growing interest in this theme, constantly evaluating these questions and his interactions with the world around him.
