Surface Level. 2020

This was the first painting created by the artist during the initial Covid-19 lockdown in 2020. Reflecting reactions of shock, creeping isolation, and a slew of mixed emotions, the painting became a kind of self-portrait. He explores surface textures and how these help in creating a sense of wear and tear in the painting. At the same time, these serve as a metaphor for how people tend to display their physical and emotional scars.
