The work addresses the stigma and misinformation regarding HIV and AIDS. Arzola draws on personal experiences growing up in Venezuela, where little information was available, and there was a deeply entrenched stigma with regard to HIV and AIDS. Despite some advances, millions of people in Latin America still do not know that a person living with HIV and receiving proper medication cannot transmit the virus through sex. 

In fact, the stigma that developed surrounding HIV and AIDS remains so strong that despite medical achievements that allow people with HIV to live conventional lives, many still hold misinformed views. Among these are beliefs that HIV continues to be a death sentence and a conflation between HIV and AIDS. Arzola’s work aims to raise awareness by approaching the audience without fear or stigma. He depicts two lovers tenderly touching each other, proclaiming their love for one another.
