Caught Up is an ongoing exploration of the concept of masculinity. Thinking of stereotypical depictions of masculinity and displays of ‘male strength’ signaled to other men and society at large, Mendel aims to present a more genuine portrayal of a human being. Beneath the theatrical and performative ‘toughness’, there is also vulnerability, softness, and fear of a fully-developed and sensitive person.
