The series I'm Not a Joke, perhaps Arzola’s best-known work, changed the course of his life. This series, which addressed issues of homophobia and transphobia, gave the artist international visibility. In this illustration, he focused on how the argument of ‘religious freedom’ is used in many countries as a pretense to attack the status and dignity of queer people. Religious beliefs can be weaponized as a violent instrument. The artist highlights this issue while advocating for tolerance and acceptance.
